Someone Take The Wheel
  Nanny Nanny Boo-Boo

Try as they might to bash him, Clark's still in the lead. AND he's my new boyfriend.

(With all due respect of course to Paul...)

What was with that bit last night about Judy actually instructing the Dem candidates not to criticize Bush in their response anyway?

Note: Though the WaPost says this is the "complete transcript", they've edited out his full answer when asked about the doctrine of preemption. Quel surprise.

The WashingtonPost has him answering: "Well Judy, people want leadership." What he really said was the quote above WITH "and just to pick up on what John Kerry said, this administration's preemptive doctrine is causing North Korea and Iran to accelerate their nuclear weapons development.

Now, there are some of us who aren't in Washington right now. But I'd like to ask all those who are -- let's see some leadership in the United States Congress. Let's see you take apart that doctrine of preemption now. I don't think we can wait until November of 2004 to change the administration on this threat. We're marching into another military campaign in the Middle East. We need to stop it." CNN has the full transcript here.

My friend Samela had this to say about his comments: "As you know, the Bush Doctrine of preemption is highest on my targeted hit list of what needs to be expunged from this administration's legacy. And Clark hit on precisely the reason it is so dangerous: its logical outcome is the proliferation of nuclear weapons (N. Korea, Iran). The only way to control those situations is to rescind it immediately."
If I Close My Eyes Am I Invisible?

You know it's difficult to tell what's real anymore...
  Sometimes They Get It Right

Just can't imagine why they chose a woman who's spent her life fighting religious intolerance, going to jail for continuing the struggle for women's rights and human rights over the Holy Father (to continue a theme), but hats off to Shirin Ebadi for winning the Nobel Peace Prize. You go girl.
  Better Late Than Never

And I thought I needed some new clothes...sheesh.

  Blame Canada!

If those uppity yurpeen-types keep on talking smack, we might hafta put 'em on our list. Responding to the absolutely shocking "no, this can't be true, please tell me it's not true" news of Resident Bush's pathetic attempt at poetry, those wily Canadians decide to hold a contest of their own. Do they really think so lowly of their own sixth graders?
Come, you are a tedious fool. To the purpose.

  I Swear I Didn't Do It

Worried that you're about to be indicted in Traitorgate? A little nervous that maybe you and Novacula aren't as good of friends as you once thought?

Here's your chance to clear your name.

I Hear It's Really HOT In Hell

The Pope decides that using condoms promotes the spread of AIDS. He said that. He really did. (Side note: My friend Mike doesn't like the Grauniad. He says so all the time. But in these circumstances, I think it's fair to say they probably wouldn't quote the Pope unless it were true.)

In the article, the Pope said don't use condoms because they have tiny little holes that the virus can pass through, even though the WHO says he's not exactly the best source of information about sex. Maybe his attention would be better spent trying to stop the spread of hypocrisy and pedophilia within his own church instead of trying to add to what has already become a global epidemic. If I didn't actually know how AIDS was spread I'd wonder if you can get it from kissing rings.

Hmmm, maybe Bob knows something we don't.

You know, it ain't even safe no more In the palace of the Pope...
  What's Good for the Goose

Total Information Awareness might have died an early (but not early enough) death, but the essence of the project lives on, with a twist. These fine patriots have embraced the founding fathers' idea of transparency in government and have set about collecting information about our government. Want to know who the top donor to your senator is? And who else they gave to? And what PAC they set up to give shelter to their donations? The latest dirt on an ongoing government scandal? This is the place for you.

This has got to be a bad idea. The whole blog thing. I can barely get my friends to read my mail anymore. And with a centralized place for my rants to retire, soon I'll be getting replies like "If I wanted to read your opinion, I'd go to your blog!" instead of "Ok, spammer, enough with the political emails, you're clogging my inbox!". On the other hand, if I do blog, I can lend an air of authenticity to my opinions. Turn it up so I don't have to think...

Rip out the table
we need room to move
in a life unstable
you're so easily amused
anywhere you hang
yourself is home
throw in a tape, fix the tone

The windows are dirty let's hope it rains
add another newspaper
something to do with my change
I see we're fighting again
In some fucking land
throw in another tape man

Someone take the wheel
and I don't know where we're going
anybody say what you feel
everybody's sad, but nobody's showing
